What this comment doesn't say.
It doesn't give us a time frame. "On the verge" could mean anything. It could just mean that Snead is optimistic that a signing will take place but doesnt' say when, and for all we know the optimism could be premature.
What this comment does say
They envision paying Donald not as just the top DT in the league but as the top defender, which means that the last landmark here is Von Miller's 19 M deal from 2016. 2018 is 3 contract years distant from 2016 (2016, 2017, 2018) so....it's most likely higher than 19 M We sorta knew that but it still counts for something to hear Snead say it
