Watkins was traded for what ended up being a late second round pick in 2018 (say #55) for maybe the #97 pick in the 2019 draft (the compensatory pick).
They rented Watkins for one year to get a pick 42 or so slots later a year later. They also decided he was not worth $16mm a year for $30mm guaranteed.
That is not a disaster...
Potentially not signing Cooks? That is a potential bad move...
