that wide open deep receivers are overthrown/underthrown by QB's on a fairly routine basis.
The completion rate for those type of passes is relatively low.
So to say that "we just can't have it", is to guarantee some disappointment.
Last year, Jared Goff was 7th in the NFL in number of 20+ yard passes completed, behind Brees, Brady, Rivers, Stafford, Cousins, and Wilson.
He was 4th in number of passes completed 40+ yards behind Stafford, Roethlisberger, and Smith.
He can get better, I'm sure.
Would be great to see him #1.
