Bellicheck will go down as perhaps the greatest NFL coach of all time.
But his way is rigid and unyielding. And I think it suits the generation before Millennials a little better than the guys coming out now.
Even if that is not the case, the reality is that players can sometimes just get tired of hearing the same voice. Change is needed at times to inject an atmosphere of life and renewal.
And some players get so rich and full of themselves, that they really don't want to put up with the BS any more.
It might be that the Superbowl era of Brady and Bellicheck has run its course and the NE Pats players in some visceral way know it.
Bellicheck is a very wealthy man, who has accomplished more than any NFL HC in history. He's old now, and perhaps it's about time for him to seek greener pastures. I suspect that pretty soon (probably after this coming season) the super wealthy and highly accomplished Brady will go too, because I just don't see the Pats having the horses any longer to go deep into the playoffs, nor the ammo to acquire them. Not sure the Pats have the chops anymore as the place to be at a cut-rate price.
We'll see.
Best,
