I worked with 2 DIE HARD Niners at the time. They were FUUUUURIOUS that Montana and Craig played at all that night. Rams had to have the game. It meant nothing to the Niners. The Niners starters, if anything, sleep walked. ESPECIALLY the O line. Kevin Greene was all over Montana that night. There was little to no momentum gained by the Niners. In fact, they looked off that night. They went on to win the Super Bowl. The most impressed I was was the Title game domination at a FRIGID Soldier Field. The Rams game had zero effect on how they played in the playoffs. Just a helluva risk that Kevin Greene put on their Star QB. Even IF Montana went down, they had a Steve Young in waiting. If Craig went down, they had Rathman. Their O line had depth. The Rams QB, RB and O line last year?? Just ONE injury on ANY of those would've been deadly.
