New catch rule...Dean Blandino NFL Radio...

Here are the steps...

1) Control
2) 2 feet
3) An "act common to the game"

In theory, this makes Dez Bryant and Jesse James plays catches. Blandino says this was the rule before.

The question I have...is when a guy has control, gets two feet down, is hit to the ground and bobbles/drops the ball as he hits the ground. My guess is that is not a catch since there was no act common to the game.

Obviously, the rule is still going to have a subjective component...and hence controversy. But, it is better.
