There are some things that are just stunning. Austin has made 10X more plays that Benny Cunningham in his career and Austin is one of the most criticized players in Rams history and Cunningham is one of the most celebrated players in Rams history (Some compare to Marshall Faulk)
While Austin is not what you would hope, he has delivered some amazing runs in his career, punt returns, off the catch, and various reverses, and even in the backfield. He is a threat to make a big play and is accounted for by the opposing defense.
I guarantee this: Austin has been on page 1 of the opposing defense scouting report many weeks in his career, while Benny Cunningham didn't even make the report.
One of the most puzzling things in Rams history is the differences in perception where the more productive player is a bum while the other is celebrated.
