Little harsh with regard to Demoff, je. IMO, anyway.
Look, can we agree that Demoff/Pastoors merely try to sign the players that S&M request? Before that, S&F?
Try...yes...do we give trophies for trying?
So signing the “right” or “wrong” players is entirely on Snead and the respective HC. NOT on Demoff.
Disagree...signing players is in Demoff's wheel house...not Snead's. Snead isn't the contract guy. He is the cap guy.
Sometimes Demoff can’t get it done, such as the Jenkins case. But there is some question whether Jenkins would even seriously negotiate anyway because he wanted outta here so badly.
I didn't know Jenkins wanted out so badly. Did he feel unwanted?
I’ll admit that the Tavon and Ogletree contract’s were head scratchers. But I place most of the blame on Fisher for the Tavon extension. On Ogletree extension? I’ve got no explanation, but I will say that Demoff was asked to do it by S&M.
I have no idea. But Austin was signed before McVay. Did they tell Demoff/Pastoor to sign these guys at any cost? They made them sweet heart offers.
When it comes to cap management, I don’t know of anyone that does it better than Demoff. This will become even more invaluable in the next few years as they deal with AD, Gurley, and Goff, among others.
I do not get where Demoff is this cap expert. All I know is we are constantly complaining about signing our guys and we have to let others go for cap space. And...we have a QB on the cheap...and we still have issues.
Nobody is perfect, including Demoff. But I stand by my statement that I wouldn’t swap him for any other. Just look at the cap problems of the Seahawks, for example.
