It just makes no sense to trade someone you just signed to a *costly* extension. Tree's contract was higher than what current LB FA's may get.
So what happened to cause the Rams coaches to sour on Tree? Hurting the team by playing with one arm affected the Eagles game, which was the week after Tree hurt his arm. What if Littleton was playing LB - do we stop the Eagles enough to turn a TD into a FG? Would McVay/Phillips grind their teeth over what "could have been."
Putting it off to salary cap issues is what everyone is saying. Gotta dig deeper to understand why this happened - else it's a disconnect between Coaches and FO and that's bigger problem than I want to believe right now. I say Tree affected the team poorly because he was injured. The team thing to do is to sit out and let someone healthy play in his place. That's winning football.
