i like the idea of maintain control over players that have trade value but dead money over 5M starts giving me pause.
that said, a good argument can be made that a 4th and 6th round pick is worth the $, if they stick as they won't take up any cap space essentially.
It could just be spin. I guess we'll never really know. But consider that the more dead money you have, the more attractive the contract is to the acquiring team, the more trade comp. you get.
I bet the Rams have numbers on how much draft picks are worth. It's an angle that I hadn't thought of.
