I agree. Between Ebukam and Longacre 50-60% of the combined snaps of the two OLB spots can be handled. So yes, they have a hole to fill at OLB. But it's not gaping... I can see them possibly bringing Barwin back as a role player in May depending on what happens earlier in free agency and the Draft.
I use the term “holes” in the context of “needs to be ungraded to become very good”, 93.
Ebukam is as yet unproven. Might be “pretty good”, might even be very good. We just don’t know yet. So I’m not quite ready to consider him a quality starter just yet. I love Longacre, but is he a quality starter? Plus there’re questions about his back. Geez, I’m not over questions about Quinn’s back.
Barwin? He’s now reduced to “pretty good” status and trending downward. Not our future by any means. Needs to be upgraded if at all possible.
Bottom line is that I think both OLB positions need to be upgraded somehow, some way. Wade’s D requires it. So they remain “holes” by my definition. Now, Wade might just love Ebu for all I know. If so, one hole can be erased.
