And now my friends, you understand the world of today's journalism. Be cast in the "expert" light and put out volumes of shallow work. Most journalists, in most all fields, do this.
They're not that smart, not as knowledgeable, not as all-knowing that they're made out to be. They are not paid well. However, they're usually good writers. Since they're under pressure to publish, they work within the "shallow input in = shallow input out" formula. I am sure that it sucks for many of them who are truly passionate about some topics, but have to write pablum about other topics.
