You have to take my word for it.... some few years back I looked up on Google the reason Tennis uses 15 - 30 - 40 - love - deuce... and the answer, according to the article I read, was this, "We don't know". My guess is the current fumble rule in the NFL has the same pedigree.

My favorite is 'winter rules'... which I have seen applied on 105 degree days in June.
