Personally I agree with B&G.
but i think the issue is more involved. First I think we need to remember that mcvay planned this offense in the summer thinking that someone else other than watkins would be running these routes, presumably tavon. While Im sure they adjusted some on the fly, I would think a there will be some tweaking this summer to get sammy the ball (assuming hes resigned). Moreover, as has been pointed out Goff missed that deep ball opportunity a number of times. His maturation as a qb combined with an increased rapport from working with sammy over the summer should also improve the confidence in the ability to hit the deep ball.
