I didn't post that story about my daughter for prayers and best wishes, even though they are greatly appreciated. I posted it because it fit with Joe's story and its an important topic. My uncle killed himself when he was in his 40s, my aunt has fought depression her whole life and even with all that, I never thought i would be affected by it.

I just wanted people to know that there is no shame in being depressed. You are also no less of a person asking for help. it takes tremendous internal strength to ask for help. But you have to talk to someone. Talk to a friend, talk to a family member, a professional or even a co-worker. Just please talk to someone.

I posted this to let people know they are not alone. My family got lucky. My daughter had a friend that was willing to sacrifice his friendship with her to tell his mom what was going on. That is true friendship and I will be grateful to that 15 year old kid for the rest of my life. (they are still friends btw)

The last thing I will say is to any parents of teenagers out there: pay attention to your kids. It sounds easy, but with jobs and high school sports and so much social media out there, life can slide by. Take an hour here and there where you unplug and just connect. Reports are showing teens that are busier on their phones are less happy.

I'm a lucky guy. I have 4 wonderful daughters, a wonderful wife and a job I enjoy. (was not enjoying that heifer last night) And I am even luckier that I have the ability to flex my schedule to however I see fit. My schedule has changed, and I make sure I spend time with my family every evening. Even if I should be farming. Life is short, life is busy, and its a hell of a lot better when the people around you are happy and healthy.

And for anyone that wants to talk, or has concerns of their own, my PM box is always open.

Don't waste your time looking back, you're not going that way. - Ragnar Lothbrok
