FWIW I for one was really upset when the Rams traded up to draft Joyner back in 2014 I felt the Rams needed a young Quarterback behind Bradford and wanted them to draft Jimmy Garoppolo who was right in their backyard at the time at Eastern Illinois and went much later to New England and if the Rams had stayed where they were in the 2nd round, they would have been able to draft Garoppolo.
Also in order to draft Joyner the Rams traded up in the 2nd round and gave up a 5th round pick where I was hoping the Rams could have drafted another QB in that round in A.J. McCarron, so in essence in drafting Joyner the Rams lost out on Two QB's IMHO. Fisher's drafting of Joyner was some what of ego because I realize he loved the kid, but he wanted to trade up ahead of the Titans, who he thought liked him too, in order to trump his former team. Now I'm glad Joyner has worked out as the move to Safety has been fantastic, but back in 2014 I felt the Rams needed someone behind Bradford in case he got hurt again, they could turn to a QB that had some upside and who knows what Fisher's regime would have done to the likes of Garoppolo or McCarron, but I always did not like the Joyner selection and again JMHO. Rams ended up selecting Garret Gilbert in the 6th round, so they knew they needed another QB, they just did not think it was a priority.
Well I am glad it went the way it did.
I would rather the Rams have both Joyner and Goff than Garoppolo and who knows.
