He asked me knowing what I know now would I still have taken Goff over Wentz, I said absolutely knowing what I know now I would have taken Goff over Wentz. I told him I believe if we drafted Wentz with the first pick we would still have Jeff Fisher as our head coach, I believe Wentz is Fisher-proof and we would still have him instead of McVay. I think Goff is a system QB and will progress nicely as he ages under McVay's eyes.
I don't know if Wentz would have been Fisher proof....but yeah, maybe we would have gone 8-8 and Fisher would have got another year.
With Wentz injury history, I think Goff will be the better QB when all is said and done....Wentz isn't going to be as mobile as he once was and that will take away what he does best.
Goff is also almost two years younger.
Thank god it worked out the way it did though...another year with Fisher and we may have never had a shot at McVay. Things happen for a reason.
