He does matter.....but mostly for continuity.

Continuity matters. Especially for young teams.

Olson was never going to be more than a year or two with the Rams; he has so much OC experience. The improvement of Goff and the league leading offense pretty well cemented that some team would offer him the OC job. Notice that he wasn't considered for an HC job.

LeFleur is another matter. The league is trending to go young at HC. But if you are a team looking for an HC, is a OC who doesn't call plays and essentially runs the HC's offense really who you go after?

That is probably going to be the case for as long as LeFleur works for McVay. My gut tells me LeFleur is going to be here for a few years.

Losing Olson ought not to matter too much especially since his replacement was from within, and has experience coaching QBs. Likely a rather seamless replacement.

But I would have hated to see LeFleur gone already. Now the voice that the O players hear day in and day out remains the same. He knows the guys, knows what changes he'd like to see, knows where improvement is needed, and the guys know him.
