We all know we could use some better run stuffers that's for sure....although I will say our run defense did improve as the year went on.
the term "front" in defense refers to the front 7 (or 8 if a S is up) not just the DL. That is why you hear "8 man front" or "box" or when it's a spread offense a 6-man box or "front". So, a 3-4 defense can be solid and if the ILber are an issue, it's still considered a "front" issue. The problems in run game, by an larger have been in ILbers, and a couple of backup DL like Walker and Smart. But "front" means your front 7 in general, could be a 4-3, a 3-4...in college cam even be a 5-2 and back in the day a 6-1 (diamond) front...
