Obviously a ton of credit goes to McVay, BUT Goff had to make some reads and all of the plays. I have a hard time believing that a QB throws 28 TDs v 7 INTs solely because of the coach.
Also as I mentioned earlier in this thread, if you take into account Goff's age and/or experience in both college and now the pros, I certainly wouldn't expect him to have the ability to read defenses like a veteran. I would bet that most of the greats and/or pretty much any starting QB in the NFL, would be missing many reads at the age of 23 with his experience.
I know that Goff has alot to learn, but it seems to me that the best way to read all of the defenses he is going to see, is with game experience and the reviewing of that game film. I'm confident that the McVay/Goff combo will be just fine. We'll find out soon enough...
That's my take.
Goff just lacks the learning-from-experience factor and no young qb runs a whole offense the way a vet does. I don't go for the "how much was McVay" argument...he;s benefitting from coaching just like any other good young qb.
