He has some things to clean up for sure but I think he had a pretty darn good year.
I look at it this way.
Ryan was drafted in 2008 (out of a college pro system). In their only 2008 playoff game, the Falcons lost to Arizona 24-30. In that game, Ryan was 26 of 40 for 199 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 Ints, with a qb rating of 72.8.
In 2010, Atlanta lost to GB 21-48. In that game, Ryan was 20 of 29 for 186 yards, I TD, 2 Ints, with a qb rating of 69.0.
In HIS first playoff game, Goff already did a bit better--he was 24 of 45 for 259 yards, 1 TD, O Ints, and a qb rating of 77.9.
The point is, was there some criticism of Ryan after the 2008 and 2010 playoff losses? Sure, most likely. And probably deserved to an extent too. But also, whoever at that time said yes he deserves some criticism but he
will develop into a good one, was right. My feeling? I bet it's the same now with Goff. Sure he deserves some fair criticism for that game (and he's absolutely not alone in that) AND he has come a long way and will develop into a good one. That's my vote anyway.
Goff also made 2-3 throws in that game that are as good as anything we have ever seen from any Rams qb at any time (or at least in my time as a Rams fan...I go back to the late 70s).
Like this one.
