It is indeed very difficult to overcome a play like that. Another example is a fumble at the one yard line, which caused the Rams to lose two games this season! In the Titans game, the bad play wasn't as bad as a fumble at the one yard line. The Rams were backed up inside their 10 yard line. So the Titans could have forced a punt and then used good field position to score a TD. It is more damaging to drive down to the one yard line and then fumble the ball away. In that case, a drive is wasted and a TD is lost. That is very deflating to a team.
