I like listening to Cowherd; but just like for anyone in his line of business you have to take it all with a grain of salt.
As though CC has a hot line into the inner working of the Pats organization.
And as though Bellicheck honestly thought that the best solution was to spend $50 mil per year for the QB slot to keep them both until Brady retired.
And as though Bellicheck would try to stick it to Kraft by selling Jimmy G for only a 2nd when he could have received much more. And why would he stick it to Kraft? Ostensibly because Bellicheck and Kraft disagreed on whether to keep both.
Well, I say the Pats got what they could get. We got Faulk for a 2nd. And he played in lots more games than Jimmy G and was killer.
Jimmy G was a backup who started like 1 or 2 games in 3 years or so. Yeah, he played well enough. But enough to part ways with 1st rounders to get him? Pats cast offs don't often play as well ever again. Might the Niners have turned out to have gotten a bargain? TBD next year when the games with Jimmy G playing actually count for something.
