I'm a tad behind this year as the Rams winning has me enjoying the actual season part of football more then in the past 10 years.
The one thing I think Phillips likes is a versatile CB that leans towards being physical and is better at press man then off coverage.
Jackson is a one year wonder. He had 10 tackles and 4 passed defensed in 2016. But this year he has been a ballhawking, run supporting CB. 48 tackles, 8 ints, 18 passes defensed and a forced fumble. He is not afraid of contact, has decent hands and is good with press man at 6'-1" 200 lbs.
Other guys that fit the bill:
Carton Davis - Auburn. Alyo likes him alot more then I do as he has allowed more seperation then I prefer, esp. against lesser WRs. Day 2 IMO
Mike Hughes, UCF - I was really impressed with his game against Auburn. Day 2 IMO
Kam Kelly - San Diego State - a former S turned CB. 6'-1" with 61 tackles 2 sacks and 3 picks. As a CB...and you can get him on Day 3.
Isaiah Oliver - Colorado - a bigger CB that was behind 2 draft picks last year. I think he is a day 2 pick.
Ken Webster - Ole Miss - had a off year, but should get back into form the farther he gets from his ACL surgery.
Jaire Alexander - Louisville - plays zone, off man and press man and does get physical with WRs, but his injuries this year made it hard to evaluate him. I like him but I'm not sure where he lands.
As far as losing Tru, (and I think he is gone) I totally agree with you thinking they have to bring in a FA CB. There are going to be a lot of decent ones on the market.
