The power rankings are just a statistic. As for other stats (such as yards gained by a RB, number of receptions by a WR, completion percentage by a QB, etc.), every game and every bit of information counts. If you treat certain games special or throw out some of the information (e.g., not counting an interception of a pass that was tipped at the line), the data analysis loses objectivity. If the final game is excluded, the Rams would indeed be at the top of the power rankings. I don't like the way they ended the regular season, which is part of a team's legacy. I wish that Gurley had led the NFL in rushing and scored 20+ TDs, that the Rams had topped 500 points and finished at 12-4, etc. I wish that they had beaten the 49ers to end the regular season.
