He had a full week of preparation. I was expecting better.
As I posted before....you have to think McVay has a "template" of a QB that he knows he can groom, and they can probably get him in the 4th round or later. Best to start that path now......so they are primed for the 2019 season (when Mannion's contract is expired).
Might need to consider signing some other veteran QB to plug in to get to the young back up QB (in case Goff gets injured next year). Mannion isn't going to cut it.
Mannion didn't look good but he was playing behind an OL starting 3 replacements and had no running game.
Usually, those kinds of things don't do much to enhance qb performance.
....
TV probably had immensely better images, but ZN is right
This group of backup OL were a pure artifact of a decade of poor linemen.
Only Blythe, and Williams to keep. And with such rich load of Center in this draft? Hard to imagine not entertaining one of them.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Mannion. He had some errors, but Tavon drops a ball. One guy had the ball go off his finger tips. And there was another key drop. Ball on the money to Mike Thomas. Give the guy the starting wideouts, and see what gives.
otoh, Mannion needs to get better with the touch stuff. He can muscle the ball well. He can throw that deep out, but his short stuff? Well.......
