If the Rams lose to the Niners by resting players, they will most likely play the Panthers next week.
The Panthers will be expending a lot of energy playing everyone trying to beat the Falcons in Atlanta. If the Panthers lose, and most likely even if they win, then they will have to travel to LA to play the Rams the following Saturday or Sunday, while the Rams stay home after resting against then Niners.
I see that as a distinct advantage for the Rams.
On top of that, Winston is out for the Bucs now, almost certainly meaning the Saints will beat them, which locks the Panthers in the 5th seed regardless if they beat the Falcons or not.
