The Walsh comparison fails ONLY because it's early and he hasn't proven it will stick. If this transformation sticks (or continues!) for the next few years, I'll be perfectly fine comparing McV to Walsh, or better... Walsh to McVay.
It's not even a complete season, and while McV hasn't reinvented the offense the way Walsh's WCO did, he certainly reinvented the Rams O itself which is more than enough for me!
