CHARLOTTE (WOLO) – After Sports Illustrated reported Sunday afternoon, during the Panthers’ 31-24 victory over the Packers, that at least four former team employees have received monetary settlements in response to inappropriate workplace comments and conduct by owner Jerry Richardson, Carolina’s founder announced hours later that he will be selling the franchise following the 2017 season.
Below is the letter, signed by Richardson himself, the first public comments made since a team-issued statement Friday that an internal investigation was taking place as result of workplace misconduct by the Wofford College alum who brought NFL Football to the Carolinas in 1993. He’s been the owner of the team from their expansion franchise bid, to the Panthers’ inaugural season in 1995, and through two NFC Championships.
