What you said about him trying to say something important when he really isn't reminded me about how he said something to a church group about the Rams impinging on the exercise/expression of his faith. I admit, I don't recall all the details, but it made the Rams sound like big meanies. I do remember the Rams vociferously denying his claims. I also seem to remember there being good reason to believe the Rams more than Kurt in that instance. Again, I don't remember all the details. Normally I don't side with companies and their PR handlers, though.
Anyway, you got the sense that Kurt wanted to say something profound to this church group and basically he exaggerated something and stuck his foot in his mouth. Worse, it soured his relationship with Martz and probably factored into his eventual departure from the Rams.
So, that fits a pattern with what you were saying.
Don't get me wrong. I love Kurt Warner. I've got his jersey on the wall behind me here. I've got an old box of "Warner's Crunch Time Cereal" flattened out as a "poster" right next to that. I have a little NFL figurine/action figure of him on the bookshelf underneath the jersey (posed as though he's throwing a pass to the Torry Holt figurine on the other end of the bookshelf). Warner is my all-time favorite Ram. But he's a fallible human being like us all.
If someone remembers the details of what I'm talking about and wants to correct the record, I welcome that. Certainly, take my memory with a grain of salt.
