Sammy has transformed
He's quiet in media terms
But look at the gaudy stats on just 28 catches
The thing that caught my eye is that he does do the ugly blocking.
It's been a pleasure watching the Kupp, Woods, Watkins trifecta making blocking an element.
And, as everyone sees, he draws the top DB, and double coverage looks, too.
Without Robert Woods as a key, I do believe we'll see him continue to up his toolset.
Wonder a bit about some of the focus that wanders on him. The last game he didn't finish out a route cleanly. Both radio and TV comments mentioned that he failed to "flat" out his move and the ball went incomplete. He has been guilty there a couple of times and he knows it.
OTOH, I see Watkins more open in my eyes than given credit for. More and more, I believe they ought to go his way even with top coverage. He can beat all of them. Thought they shied away too much in the game against Richard Sherman.
In my mind, this is yet another game where he could be that difference maker towards a win. Unlike the Eagle game where I see Gurley as key already, Sammy's outing tomorrow on the stat sheet could easily declare the outcome.
