I recall in the 50s the Rams and Trojans played often to crowds of 90,000 plus and I attended several Ram games as a youth where the reported attendance was 100,000 plus. I don't recall any safety issues being discussed and I recall the same problems in the tunnels and access to restrooms, eating facilities -which there are more today than ever. If not then why not now??
I think the argument being raised is this: if the Coliseum was suddenly moved to New York it would be filled to capacity for Giant games. Same with GB or Washington, etc. etc.
But lets not disparage this city. It is a great, great city-one I have the pleasure of being born in and growing up in. Its just that we are different.
