Phone numbers were 2 digits long.
Lol
And for the record a phone booth is another name for a kiosk in the mall that sells cellphones.
Hell, I remember party lines and I remember telling an operator who you wanted to call and she placed the call for you. I’m talking about LOCAL calls here.
I remember that “long distance” was a big deal and was considered very expensive. The operator placed the call and one tried very very hard to finish the conversation as quickly as possible. Money didn’t grow on trees our parents told us.
I remember that parents took great pains to teach their children proper etiquette in answering the phone.
I remember that homes that had more than one phone were considered to be owned by “rich folks”. Extra phones cost extra money.
I remember when the introduction of area codes was considered high tech.
I could go on but I think that I’ve humiliated myself enough, already. Lol.
