I have a real problem of how to factor in the the results of Thursday night games into the status of a team.
There's not enough game planning time for the coaches. There's not enough recuperation time for the players. Dinged up players that could have played the following Sunday just can't get ready by Thursday.
Bottom line: the Cowboys likely aren't as bad as they looked last night (and they looked terrible).
But I also wonder about the effects of the loss of Lee and Elliott. The reality is that if the Cowboys go as Elliott and Lee go, then they are a very fragile team with poor depth especially at those positions.
The thing is, I think the Cowboys are actually only about a .500 (or slightly better team), even with Lee and Elliott, over the term of a season. And, while a good young QB, Prescott is not of the caliber to carry a team on his back. The expectations of Dak and the Cowboys in general were simply too high this year. This is a team with many flaws and is not a true playoff contender even they back in with a Wild Card spot.
Besides: the odds of Lee ever playing a full schedule are small as he's always hurt. They need to move on from him. As for Elliott, yes he's really good. But imo no single RB ought to be the straw that stirs the drink for any team. I think a team needs 2 starting caliber RBs to be playoff competitive for the long haul. And in this regard, I think the Rams are very vulnerable since only Gurley is a playoff caliber RB.
Dude, they've been blown out three straight games and it doesn't matter what day they play.....they are meek without Zeke.
Watching that dink and dunk offense that wouldn't throw more then ten yards down field brought back bad memories.
