Rams vs Opponents game rushing stats after 11 weeks

November 23, 2017 03:31AM

So, in looking at what the Rams have done rushing wise in their 10 games we see. Their two best games were against AZ and Dallas.
197 yards rushing vs the Cardinals in London with a 4.9 avg per carry and 11 first downs rushing.

168 yards rushing vs Dallas with a 5.4 yards a carry avg and 9 first downs rushing.

In a loss to an allegedly tough against the run defense, the Seahawks the Rams had 100 yrds rushing with 4.5 yard avg (not bad) and 4 first downs on rushing attempts.

The Vikings was their worst rushing performance by far with 45 yrds and 2.6 yard avg per carry. (Fisher numbers). 1 first down rushing. Notably it was also the game they attempted the least amount of rushing with 17 attempts. Why did they go away from the rush? Did McVay just quit on the rush? 17 attempts as most elite running backs will tell you is not enough to get a feel for the game.

The Rams are going to have to run the ball and stay with it against the Saints. Ball control and eating the clock with a lead is going to be key. Rams have to keep the ball out of Brees and company hands.
