When I see a series of guys trying to handle the NT position, and now Phillips is resorting to what is essentially a DE to man the spot; and I watch the Rams all year get gashed up the middle; and we see that we have undersized ILBs designed more for coverage ability and speed who have a difficult time shedding blocks; it simply highlights the glaring need for a really good NT that can handle both gaps either side of Center.
Brockers can do it pretty well; but he is too valuable at 3-4 DE to move back inside.
I'm not griping. The offseason was focused on acquiring O players. The Rams are making do with what they have. But this offseason, we need to acquire a very stout NT for Wade's D. Simply an immovable object that clogs up the middle. Until that happens, this run D is going to be susceptible to getting stomped on.
Everything is not about the pass rush.
