McVay was pretty upset with the 1st half of the Houston game. And, I also have no doubt he got some pointers from Gruden about how the Vikes play certain formations.
So I expect to see some wrinkles from the Rams that the Vikes haven't seen before. McVay talks all the time about breaking tendencies and not becoming predictable.
Frankly; while the Vikes defense is indeed good, they're not all-world. They are sound, solid, and have good players across the board. But they aren't Seattle.
In fact, if points allowed is the measure (and I happen to think that is the stat that really means the most), then the Rams D is slightly better. But allowed 18+ points per game is NOT dominant. It is good, but not dominant.
On the other hand the Rams are scoring 33 ppg, while the Vikes are scoring 24 ppg. HUGE difference. The Rams are more than a TD more per game than the Vikes. So while the defenses are essentially even, the offenses are anything but.
The only reason to give the Vikes the edge is the home field. However the Rams are undefeated on the road.
What a great matchup.
