Just looking at the Texan game, I can see how the Rams lose and win their next games.
In the first half we lose:
Big play Aaron Donald forces fumble: Rams only get FG
Pressure from Hou. DL cause disruption in offense
Sacks, incompletions, no run game, and flags on defense (btw Houston misses an easy FG)
Hopkins beats Tru. JJ has big hit but guy hangs on, and Joyner nearly kills Fuller
But then, Joyner out of position and an easy middle of the field TD
Troubles continue. Goff to the short, short pass, incompletions mount, Gurley stymied
In a show of courage, and trust in his defense, McVay and Bones go for Hekker fake punt. Foiled
Then Barron steps up
Offense finds a little octane. Kupp breaks tackles. Woods on a chain mover. Higbee breaks tackles.
But the offense stalls again, and has to settle for FG.
At some point there in the first half, prior to that last drive, the Rams had managed all of 6 yards of offense. 6 !
Coming out of the tunnel the Rams get the ball. And the offense flames out again.
Worth looking at
False start Hav
Big play Kupp
Grounding on Goff (rare have been sacks and interceptions, but shooting oneself in the foot here)
Gurley shows great hands but goes for 3yds
Everett missed
When the next loss comes, I think it'll look a lot like this, and add a turnover or two. FGs instead of TDs, and some flaws on defense.
In the 2nd half we win:
Ogletree picks the ball for TD but there's a flag. That ignited the defense, and the crowd.
Woods and Goff go showtime for 94 and the TD. Btw, L.A. crowds love this stuff, who doesn't but that was the loudest point of the game.
Lots of different plays to celebrate, but the QB finds 6 different receivers, Gurley does his stuff, and Woods has his best day, as does the QB
One thing kind of sticks out
The coach takes fault for not having his guys on offense right way around right at the start. I agree. That turnover by Donald was a Texan killer. Cash in on a TD and I think it's a rout; in the end it was, but with better teams you don't start flat.
There was an insane amount of time after that turnover that elapsed. Might have been part of problem. McVay would be wise to get some energy into those guys. Occurred to me that offense looked awfully still waiting for the official timeout. Sure enough there wasn't a lot of edge to their work early.
