First thing is that now 65,000 constitutes a sellout. So, even with a 65,000 sellout, that Coliseum is gonna look sorta empty. Better get used to it until they open the new palace.
The second thing is that economic and convenience issues become factors in ticket buying decisions.
Look, it’s darned expensive to go to a game these days. Many fans are forced to spend their dollars on more necessary things such as housing, food, cars, health insurance, etc. Particularly if they have children.
The convenience angle might be the biggest issue, though. It’s the one that applies to me, for example. It’s nice to watch the game at home on my 70” big screen with surround sound. Fridge and bathroom only 20 feet away with no lines. Comfortable recliner and remote with a pause feature. No gameday travel, no expensive parking. Red Zone channel for those hours when Rams are not playing. Can participate on GTF on my iPad with my Ram buddies during the game if I want.
Never surrounded by drunks, no f-bombs for my wife to hear, no worries about fights, etc.
I can understand how many fans in 2017 might choose to follow the Rams in this way. It sure works for me.
