Maybe we need to come up with a nickname for Goff. How about the Blonde Bomber (although given the world conditions perhaps "bomber" isn't a good idea)?
His throw to Watkins and then this week his throw to Woods were beautiful, textbook deep balls that hit both WRs in stride.
Goff is finally dialing in the speed and timing of his WRs for these long, long throws. Not an easy thing to do.
But it also takes a desire to throw long (checkdowns are easier, safer and better on the QB rating). You also need an HC that is comfortable with those risks and has a pedal to the metal offensive mindset.
And it takes guts to do it when you're facing Clowney and when you are throwing from the end zone.
But Goff is always looking to throw intermediate and deep. He's a little like Rothlesberger that way.
The beauty of completing those deep and explosive plays is that it diminishes the will of the D. It is really disheartening to the entire opposing team because it can change the complexion of the game in an instant.
