Feel the same way about McVay being truly special...He is a top 5 coach by 2018 or 2019.
I will take McVay as the greatest Rams head coach ever after 1973. He da man.
John Robinson was an overseer, and a very good one. But, McVay is 'in the team' deep, while Robinson was involved only with the run game....he brought in coordinators for the O and D---and had no influence in play calls.
Loved
Martz mostly, but there were some things that seemed wrong--
like:
*the way he handled the 4th quarter during the last 3 blow out reg season games in 2001--- was the first time I was like "huh".....Warner got hurt (the throat thing)...
*Benching Warner after 1 game in 2003 after he had a killer preseason.
*Letting QB after QB get killed in the pocket.
*No audibles tells me "I am the genius, and my QB could never figure out during pre-play what I already figured out
without seeing the defense set up. What coach allows no audibles for an experienced vet like Warner/Green?
* Once the Rams lost a 'little' on offense, the defense couldn't make up for it...Martz bringing in Marmie as DC....lol!
Chuck Knox was a great reg season coach; he made some interesting playoff game decisions with starting QBs. Rams were one dimensional while VIkings, Steelers and Dallas were throwing as needed....with developed passing games.
