Naw. The broken play is where Wilson excels.

October 30, 2017 11:50AM
Wilson doesn't fit in a standard NFL offense. If he can't run around creating and buying more time for his WRs to get loose from the Dbacks, then he's not nearly as effective. It's the big broken-play where Wilson makes the highlight reel.

Carrol has to be given credit for creating an offense that is equal parts structure and chaos and allowing for Wilson to do his thing. Even his WRs are selected for their ability to keep running around almost at random trying to find an open spot when the play breaks down.

No, Wilson is unique as is the offense he is operating in. The Rams are uniquely built to stop him; they have a lot of depth with quicker, faster, Dlinemen and with faster more agile ILBs that play more like large Safeties. The Rams know that you scheme to contain him in the pocket and try to turn him into a pocket passer. Put guys in his face who can penetrate, and fast guys who mush rush on the edge. Never play his inside shoulder or he'll spin out and go to the edge where he buys at least 2 more seconds waiting for a WR to scamper around until he can shake loose the DB.
