Listening to the Giant game and Engram's play certainly brought some wistful thoughts
However, I feel as though blaming Higbee would be wrong of me. I've watched a number of times now that Jared has overthrown the kid. Yesterday, only one deep ball went up that I remember and Goff sort of overthrew or better yet, threw away a ball towards Sammy.
At one point, in the first half, with a 3rd down and short, Goff has a beat and ends up going underneath to Gurley, who finds the first down markers.
But, to my eye, you can see Higbee running free downfield. He'd gotten by the defender and looked like a tough throw, but it's also had TD play all over it.
and, btw, he made a nasty catch between defenders and paid for it yesterday.
But for a number of weeks now Higbee pulled across the formation towards Whitworth's side (praise Kromer/ Matt/ McVay line calls) and sealed well.
Fact.
Whitworth and company had the best blocking day I've seen from the Rams since.........probably Orlando Pace in his prime.
And to a degree, I feel bad for Hemmingway, who clearly had earned a roster spot, and a role with McVay's offensive pass sets.
But back to the future.
Yes, I do think another TE is required. Is it a vet?
