That would be pretty sweet but I'm not counting those chickens just yet.
McVay has indeed been transformational thus far and he and the team are exceeding pretty much all reasonable expectations. I'm pretty excited about him. I think they might have hit the jackpot with him. And he was my choice of the candidates to begin with.
BUT..........
All he's really proven so far is that he's a good starter. He hasn't really faced any adversity yet, no significant bumps in the road. And those WILL come. How will he and the team respond? How will they handle and follow up on success and escalating expectations?
We've seen it many times before. The new kid on the block bursts onto the scene dramatically.....and then fades from it almost as dramatically. In fact, we've seen some of that with the coach and team the Rams just destroyed today. They've never seemed to recover from being blown out in the NFC Championship game a couple years ago and now they're on the verge of the second consecutive losing season.
We'll see how McVay sustains and progresses the team and organization. I'm not ready to get ahead of ourselves, but it's a darn sight better to be where we are now than where the organization has been over the last decade plus. That's for sure. That's good enough for me for now.
Please refresh my memory. Please tel me the new kid who bursts onto the scene and faded.
We are not counting morons like Rex Ryan and such
