People forget that Gurley's demise actually occurred in his rookie season after those first 4 games and defense had video on him and Fisher kept trying to drive the square peg through the round hole. His results after those first 4 games in his rookie season is consistent to his 2nd season.
Hence, there is no merit to the idea that he was not physically the same player in 2nd season. If that was the case, he wasn't the same player physically after his first 4 games his rookie season and a guy doesn't get significantly slower or weaker in a week unless there is an unreported injury.
