They tried one short slant to him, but I agree, every pass to him is a bomb. Maybe a short or intermediate route to get him in the flow instead of low percentage long passes constantly.
I understand setting up the middle for Kupp and Woods, etc., but he is too much of a one trick pony.
Maybe Goff only goes long to him and he is open other times, obviously some intense film study and knowing the primary reads would answer that.
Bottom line, they need to be more creative with Watkins.
Still a lot of season left, and he did get to the Rams way late in the training process (camps, off-season, training camp, etc.)...
