5 turnovers and still have a shot to win a game against a consensus division winning playoff team.... I see the silver lining.
The only 'goof' that I am now thinking is 'permanent' is the Austin fumbles. I'm not worried about Kupp, (yes, he could and I think should have caught it)... I'm a little worried about Gurley and ball security, true, but not yet thinking it's unsolvable... as I am believing it is with Austin.
Goff had the typical 'new to the game' stumble that every QB that has ever played the game has suffered, several times. His ability to direct that last drive was very impressive IMHO.
McVay, seems to me, got a little too invested in trying to utilize what he thought the Hawk's least expected... doesn't work against fundamentally sound defenses... lesson learned. Not a bit worried about McVay. Possibly that's the 'neglect' it seemed Watkins received for the bulk of the game.. NOT at the end, however. McVay is aware of where his bread butter lies.
Self-inflicted losses hurt... probably the most painful of all... but at the same time I view such stumbles as rectifiable with the right man in charge... and I think McVay is the right guy.
thank you! after the game on sunday you would have thought it was fisher instead of McVay...ALL DOOM AND GLOOM.. with no hope of ever winning another game. we have a young team with a young coach it's going to be fun watching them grow together......
