Goff made a nice throw, not a perfectly placed ball, but he gave Kupp a chance to make a great catch. It wasn't a nearly impossible catch as some Goff haters have said on Twitter, but it was a somewhat difficult one.
On that play, Goff looked off the safeties and then turned his head at the last second and made that throw. His degree of difficulty was much harder than Kupp's.
I'm not throwing Kupp under the bus for letting the ball go off his hands while he was extending for a fairly hot ball, it wasn't a bad drop. But I'm certainly not gonna point the finger at Goff and say he had a wide open Kupp and threw him a bad ball.
That is absolute nonsense, IMO.
There were dozens of bad throws by Goff today, as well as dozens of bad plays by other guys on offense, but that pass to Kupp wasn't one of them. If Kupp makes that catch, which I think he does 9 times out of 10, then Goff is a miracle worker. I'm just frustrated reading ridiculously negative tweets from Goff haters who said too bad Goff made that bad pass when he set it up so well on that last drive.
The biggest issue is that the Rams have been terrible in the Red Zone for the last 2 games and that falls on everyone, Goff, Gurley, the WRs, the TEs. the OL, but especially McVay.
