My view was that he was part of the problem in 2016. He lacked the explosion, decisiveness, and strength he had in 2015 and has again now. Some attribute this to coaching but not me. Steven Jackson never wavered that way and that was for trainwreck 1-15 and 2-14 teams which in comparison make the 2016 Rams look like the Lombardi Packers. I like the way McVay uses Gurley, but then Gurley himself contributed to the problems of 2016. Early in 2017, it was clear he had devoted himself to working out and preparing for this season the way he had not last year, so I figured he was now dedicated to being better than he had been last year. In the middle of all that I personally never called for him to be traded and can't think of anyone who did.
