Very interesting, indeed.
Here’s aeneas1...
here's a look at how the stunningly surprising 2017 rams offense stacks up to the gsot offenses...
- first, 2017 scores per drive rate is just off the hook at 62%, that's plain crazy and very likely unsustainable, the best rate a gsot team booked was 48% in 2000, which in itself is off the hook good, just not when compared to 2017.
- tds per drive at 29% lags a bit behind gsot teams but it's still good as hell, only the patriots, packers and chiefs have higher rates through the first four weeks, not surprisingly these three teams rank 1st, 3rd and 4th in offensive scoring respectively with the rams coming in at 2nd... just 1 more td would give the 2017 rams a 31% rate, 2 more tds would give the rams a 33% rate, which would be higher than what the gsot averaged over 3 years, just incredible.
- field goal rate, just hysterical at 33%.
- td source is interesting, only 8% of the rams tds have been scored from outside the redzone, compared to 26% for the gsot... moreover 67% of the rams tds have been scored from the opponent 10 or closer, a much higher rate than the gsot.
- redzone results is also interesting... the rams have reached the redzone on a whopping 43% of their drives, plain crazy, the gsot average was 36% which was crazy high...a big positive is that only 6% of the rams rz drives has ended in a turnover.
